Res. 9883 Calling Election RESOLUTION NO. 9883 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CUPERTINO CALLING FOR A GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION FOR THE PURPOSE OF SUBMITTING A MEASURE BEFORE THE QUALIFIED VOTERS WHEREAS, the State of California election will be held on Tuesday, November 4,1997;and WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City Council of the City of Cupertino to call a general municipal election in the City to be held on November 4, 1997; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Cupertino does hereby call a general municipal election to be held Tuesday, November 4, 1997, and directs that the following measure is to be submitted to the qualified electors of the City. City of Cupertino Measure ( ) The service of city councilmembers shall be limited to two consecutive elected terms, for a maximum possible time (appointed and elected combined) of 10 years and 354 days, after which they would not be eligible for election or appointment to a council seat for four (4) years. Within 60 days of this election the city council shall enact an ordinance implementing this measure. YES NO THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CUPERTINO FURTHER RESOLVES: I) That polls shall be open at 7:00 a.m. and closed at 8:00 p.m. 2) The City Clerk shall publish a notice of election and synopsis of the measure two times: RESOLUTION NO. 9883 Page 2 3) The City Attorney is hereby directed to prepare an impartial analysis of the measure not to exceed 500 words in ll':ngth and is to be filed with the City Clerk no later than August 12, 1997. 4) The City Clerk is hereby directed to certify to the adoption of this resolution and to transmit a copy hereof to the Board of Supervisors of the County and to file a certified copy with the Registrar of Voters of the County.
