Don SunCandidate Statement of Don Sun
Cupertino City Council
Occupation: Planning Commissioner /Businessman
I am a planning commissioner for Cupertino since 2011. I was the chair
in 2013 when we completed the Apple II project. My background in Urban
Planning, Economics and Law gives me unique qualifications to work out
many challenges in managing a city's development with growing needs and
diverse interests. I am the VP of the Cupertino Historical Society since 2009. I
am a member of the Cupertino Rotary Club since 2007.
If elected I will work with the city staff to: create a city sponsored job
listing for teenager and middle -aged residents; make schools an impact factor
for real estate development projects; promote more senior housing; support
extra green bike lanes on major areas to promote bicycle safety; establish a
committee to work with local industries to ensure good environment
practices; designate funds to build a Steve Job statue in Memorial Park.
I have a BA from Renmin University in Urban Planning, an MA in
Regional Economics from University of Pennsylvania, a JD from Peninsula
Law School. I did my postgraduate research in urbanization at The Hoover
Institute, Stanford.
My past voting record shows that I represent no special interest
groups but Cupertino residents. Please visit my website: www.donsun.org.
