Rod Sinks
Candidate Statement for Rod Sinks
Occupation: Incumbent Member, Cupertino City Council
Age: 58
Rod Sinks supports sustainable growth while retaining all we love about Cupertino. I advocate for
strong schools. As your council representative, I listened to you and worked to spread state-mandated
housing developments across our city to mitigate stress on our schools. I championed affordable housing
so more teachers can live in our community. A sustainable economy means prosperity and fiscal
responsibility. Apple’s new campus will bolster our economy and tax base. Revitalized shopping and
dining destinations have brought us new choices and keep our dollars in Cupertino.
Sustainable transportation means less congestion. I led a Mayors’ coalition to negotiate $248 million
for improved interchanges and roads in Cupertino, and $350 million for new transit as Chair of the State
Route 85 Corridor Policy Advisory Board. As Mayor, I initiated an ambitious new bike plan, jump-started
with $2 million, creating safer routes to schools, jobs and shopping.
As an environmental leader, I spearheaded creation of and chair the Silicon Valley Clean Energy
Authority, bringing competition to PG&E with less expensive, carbon-free electricity in 2017. I’m also
fighting for cleaner air at the Bay Area Air Quality Management District.
I’m a 28-year resident, high-tech executive, scout leader, robotics mentor, Stanford graduate, and
am not funded by developers. Please review rodsinks.com and vote for Rod Sinks.
