Dear City Council,
Regarding the Agenda #15 Work Program Update
If there is an item that is not likely to be built within the next 5 years, let’s please stop
studying/planning it.
#6 Study Session on City Owned Properties
Why does it cost $90K to run a study session on city-owned properties? Let’s please go for low-
hanging fruit. Selling Bryne is a no-brainer. Get it on the market while the weather is good. Please
put it on the agenda and call it a day.
14. Cupertino Store Implementation
Than you for shelving the Cupertino store idea at a cost of $145K. I think there’s a much easier way
of selling Cupertino bling.
21. Regarding the Golf Course – it has come up many times. Sad to see another $60K in trying to
figure out what to do instead of fix it. Mature trees have died there over the years and have not
been replaced. Very sad.
#27. Please consider increasing the TOT on the ballot for 2023. This is low-hanging fruit. I talked
with a couple of hotels and the chamber of commerce and they seem to be okay with it. We only
have a handful of hotels and I think that it would be fairly easy to get onto the ballot more quickly.
Moving forward, I’d like the City to study a head tax and square-footage commercial tax as is done in
other cities.
Going to the CIP page, I was alarmed at a couple of things.
Please – let’s stop evaluating and just do the remodel of City Hall. A new City Hall just doesn’t make
sense. Strangely, bundled within this project is a separate remodel of Community Hall. These are
different buildings and should be split up. There is no urgency on fixing Community Hall. Let’s shelve
changes to Community Hall.
Finally, there’s nothing to stop us from saving $ in the Q4 now – please, let’s be more careful with
our tax dollars!
Regards,
Rhoda Fry
