Dear Cupertino City Council,
Please do not remove the zoom option for city commission meetings. The whole point of
commissions is to increase accountability and transparency of city decisions to the public. To
remove the zoom option limits public visibility. Time is a valuable commodity, and most of
us, due to busy work schedules or family/caretaker commitments, cannot easily attend city
meetings in person.
Moreover, please ensure all meetings continue to be recorded and posted to the public. Even if
this was not a common practice pre-pandemic, times have changed, along with expectations.
Public meetings with a virtual option are basically the standard now.
I understand there is a cost to video and zoom. However, if you can find millions to spend on
consulting contracts, surely you can pony up a few thousand for video/staff time??
Thanks,
Jim
