NOTICE OF ELECTION
NOTICE IS HEREBY given that a General Munici-
pal Election will be held in the City of
Cupertino on Tuesday, November 3, 2020, for
the following Officers:
FOR TWO(2) MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL
(Full -term of four years)
Incumbents Steven Scharf and Rod Sinks cur-
rently occupy those seats. Rod Sinks is not eli-
gible for re-election because of term limits.
The nomination period for these offices begins
on Monday, July 13, 2020 at 7:30 am. and
closes on Friday, August 7, 2020 at 4:30 p.m.
Individuals interested in running for office may
obtain nomination papers from the City Clerk's
Office located at 10300 Torre Avenue,
Cupertino, California, during the nomination
filing period. Candidates must be registered
voters within the corporate limits of the City of
Cupertino.
If an incumbent fails to file nomination papers
by 4:30 p.m. on Friday, August 7, the nomina-
tion period will be extended by five calendar
days to 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 12,
2020. During this time, any eligible candidate
except the incumbent(s) may file nomination
papers. Candidates may also withdraw
nomisnation papers during the extension.This
extension is not applicable where there is no
incumbent eligible to be elected.
If no one or only one person is nominated for
an elective office, appointment to the elective
office may be made as prescribed by Section
10229, Elections Code of the State of California.
The vote centers for this election will be open
between 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday,
November 3, 2020 (Election Day). Vote -by -mail
ballots must be postmarked on or before Elec-
tion Day and received by the county elections
office no later than 17 days after Election Day,
or delivered to a vote center or ballot drop-off
location no later than 8:00 p.m. on Election
Day.
