mitigation options.
Methods: The site was visited on Friday, March 1, 2024. The tools used were a
diameter tape and a utility locate probe. Each trees crown height and radius were
estimated. The DBH of the three (3) trees was measured for trunk diameter at
approximately 4.5 feet above grade with a diameter tape. The DBH is listed on the
maps in Fig 2,3,4. The three (3) trees were assessed and rated for health and structure.
The overall condition considers branch structure, decay, leaf quality, vitality, dieback,
lean, and other issues that affect the state of the trees.
Each trees health was determined by observing the foliage, twig growth, leaf density,
and dead branches. The structure rating was determined by observing branch

Onsite Conditions: The De Anza 7 site has approximately 150 trees comprised of 24
different species. This report addresses three trees located in a planting area on the
east side of the site. The trees in question were mature and installed when the site was
originally built.
Tree Species Description: The Malus domestica (apple trees) are small fruit trees that
typically grow 15-25 ft in height with an equal crown spread. They are not typical for a
landscape tree and are generally found in a backyard orchard or commercial
agricultural setting. It is a desirable species in the appropriate locations.
Observations: The Malus domestica (apple trees) are mature and interesting in the
landscape as they are not common. Unfortunately, the trees have died, and removal is
required.
Conclusion: We recommend removing the three trees. They are dead, and removal
and replacement are needed.
Mitigation: 3 24 box Pistacia chinensis (Chinese pistache) planted in the same
locations as the removed trees to match the existing landscape.
