SUBJECT: ARBORIST REPORT FOR PROPERTY AT 10201 N De Anza Blvd,
Cupertino, CA 95014
This arborist report includes the observations and assessment of one (1) protected tree
growing in a landscape area. The site was visited on Thursday, August 24. The tree is
dead and needs to be removed before becoming unstable.
Assignment: Review one Sequoia sempervirens (Coastal Redwood) tree growing at
10201 N De Anza Blvd, Cupertino, CA 95014, on the northwest corner of the property
in a landscape on the south side.
The assignment requires the following activities: visit the site, verify the tree, list the
tree species, diameter, crown radius, tree condition, impacts to the property, and
mitigation options.
Observations: The site was visited on Thursday, August 24, 2023.
The tools used were a diameter tape and a screwdriver as a probe. Crown height and
radius were estimated. The one (1) tree on the map was measured for trunk diameter at
approximately 4.5 feet above grade with a diameter tape. Trees were assessed and
rated for health structure and overall condition considering branch structure, decay, leaf
quality, vitality, dieback, lean, and other issues that affect the condition of the trees.
The tree health condition rating was determined by observing the tree foliage, twig
growth, leaf density, and dead branches. The structure rating was determined by
observing branch attachment, crotch structure, trunk flare, surface roots, decay, insects
and diseases, growth habits, and any physical damages. The overall condition
combines the health and the structure ratings based on the most significant conditions.
The Sequoia sempervirens (Coastal Redwood) has died. There is no opportunity for
recovery.

Discussion: This Sequoia sempervirens (Coastal Redwood) died. There is no apparent
cause. It appears the grade was raised around the root crown several years back. The
change in grade could have negatively affected the tree.
Conclusion: The Sequoia sempervirens (Coastal Redwood) tree shall be removed in
accordance with CHAPTER 14.18: PROTECTED TREES.
Mitigation: Plant one 24 box of Pistacia chinensis (Chinese pistachia) in the same
general area to mitigate the loss of one removed tree.
