Mary Avenue_PresentationSeptember 4, 2024 Review City Work Program Funding to Develop New Extremely Low Income and BMR Housing Units for Developmentally Disabled Individuals on City-Owned Property Along Mary Avenue CC 09-04-2024 Item No. 14 Background ●Since FY 2021-22, City Work Program has included Mary Avenue Project Site to develop extremely low-income housing (ELI) for intellectually and developmentally disabled (IDD) community. ●February 6, 2024, City Council approved an Exclusive Negotiation Agreement (“ENA”) with the nonprofit public benefit corporations Cupertino Rotary Housing Corporation, Housing Choices Coalition for Persons with Developmental Disabilities, Inc., and Charities Housing Development Corporation of Santa Clara County. ●Project envisions a 100% affordable, forty (40) unit, two-story, apartment development. ●18 units for Special Needs population. ●21 units will serve extremely low and very low-income residents of the community. Analysis Allocated Spent Remaining Work Program Funding FY 2024-25 $250,000 $15,000 $235,000 ●No additional fiscal impact would incur should City Council direct remaining appropriated funds to be utilized for entitlement review. ●Staff recommends City Council utilize remaining allocated funding to cover staff and consultant’s time and costs for project review. ●Should City Council deny use of appropriated funds, remaining amount would remain in City’s BMR Affordable Housing fund for future uses.
