Hung Wei BioBiography for Hung Wei
Born and raised in Taiwan, Hung Wei came to the States in 1979 to study at UCLA,
received a Master in Teaching English as a Second Language. Hung has lived in
Cupertino since 1990. While her children attended public schools, she volunteered at PTA,
School Site Council, and fundraising activities. She advocates for public education, the
best equalizer in providing equitable opportunities for children to learn and succeed in
life. In 2007, Hung served on the Governing Board of the Fremont Union High School
District, serving 10,000+ students and their parents from Cupertino, Fremont, Homestead,
Lynbrook, and Monta Vista High Schools. Her serving model is “Servant Leadership” –
serve with compassion, communication and collaboration; lead with transparency, fiscal
health, and heart for teens. During her tenure as School Board Member, FUHSD has
strived to educate the “whole” child - fostering high standards in not only academic
successes, but also providing learning opportunities in extra-curricular performances in
music, band, arts, sports, math/science/robotics competitions, speech and debate, business
and entrepreneurial skills.
Hung’s volunteer work doesn’t stop at the school level, she serves as Board Member and
active volunteer at community non-profit organizations including the High Schools
Foundation, the Northwest YMCA, Asian American Parent Association, the Rotary Club
of Cupertino, and EMQ Auxiliary supporting Uplift Family Services. With 11 years of
school board service and 20+ years of community volunteering, Hung has developed deep
dedication and love for Cupertino, a town she adopted as her hometown! This year in
2018, Hung is embarking on a new adventure – running for Cupertino City Council. She
will dedicate her time, energy, and passion in bringing collaborative spirits to Cupertino
City governance, to build teamwork, unity, and solutions, in moving Cupertino forward
