Dear Mayor Chao, Vice Mayor Moore, Councilmembers and Staff,
THANK YOU for not cancelling this December 18, 2024 meeting but instead using it as
preparation for the new year rather than waiting until mid-January to address many of the
housekeeping items required when a new council takes office.
As for the 2025 City Council schedule, I have several suggestions/requests:
1. Please stick to your schedule. Cancelling a meeting results in impacting the
subsequent meeting – making it longer. Do whatever is ready on that agenda.
2. (Special meetings) Avoid scheduling a Council meeting that conflicts with other
commission or committee meetings. This impacts the public’s ability to attend both
meetings and reduces public input. It also can result in forcing the Planning
Commission to be moved to another location. The public is not as familiar with all these
alternate locations thus reducing public input and attendance.
3. Keep the December 16, 2025 meeting on the schedule. This meeting allows you to
complete the Council housing keeping items required after the election of a new mayor
and vice mayor. It’s a great start to the new year!
