Subject: Planning Commission Interviews
Dear City Council Members:
I wanted to send an email to give you my thoughts on your interviews for appointments to the Cupertino Planning
Commission tomorrow. We on the commission have been very lucky to have a group of commissioners who not only
represent very diverse opinions within the community but also vrho are able to listen patiently to public testimony, debate
the issues, listen respectfully to each other's opinions and agreE; or disagree without taking opposition personally. I
believe that each of us has the goal of trying to better the comrriunity we serve and although I do not agree with every
detail of what we approve, I am proud of what the current comrr~issioners have accomplished as a group and strongly
believe that the community would be best served by reappointing the incumbent commissioners.

Subject: Please distribute this to the Council at the Planning Commission interviews -thanks
Dear Mayor and Council Members,
With pleasure I would like to recommend commissioners Brophy, Rose and Miller for reappointment to the
planning commission.
As individuals we have our own opinions and often don~i: agree. As a team we rely upon one another~s
differences and strengths in different areas to analyze pr~~jects and create a better end result for the
community while respecting each other differences.
Over the past several months the planning commission has coalesced into a comprehensive team. We are
working well together and are focused on the publicOs business and building a strong community.
I urge the council to reappoint the three commissioners vvho have committed their time and effort learning
Cupertino(]s General Plan and serving the City. Their experience would be a loss to the City.
Regards,
Lisa A. Giefer
Chairperson, Planning Commission
City of Cupertino
