As I indicated to Don Woolfe in March, our estimated cost to update seismic and geohazard text sections of the General Plan should not exceed $4,000 (I understand this amount has been included in Don's overall cost estimate for the General Plan Update). I suspect that not much of this money will remain from the $4,000 budget for work on City Maps. FAULT MAP- In terms of the cost to prepare an uK~dated map illustrating known locations of faults crossing the City, we estimate that the cost to prepare a digital map (compatible with the City GIS system) should not exceed $15,000. If we were to generate a pencil draft of the map for the City to turn into a GIS overlay, then the cost should nog: exceed $10,000. As part of this map, we plan to illustrate the properties where fault investigations have been completed from approximately 1975 to present. UPDATED SEISMIC & GEOLOGIC HAZARDS M/~P- Our goal would be to incorporate the above "Fault Map" into the hazards map, as well as greai:ly simplifying the current 12 Hazards Zones into a new red/yellow/green map system. We anticipate a reduction to 4 or 5 zones. For each new zone we will outline the recommended type of geologic/geotechnical investigation to be completed in support of development. We will also list what types of registered professionals need to complete the investigation (PE, GE, RG, C;EG). We estimate that the cost to prepare a digital version of this map should not exceed $10,000. If we were to prepare a pencil draft of this map for the City to turn into a GIS overlay, then th~a cost should not exceed $7,000. The above costs do not include work associated with updatinct fault locations (Fault Map Option) or Landslide locations (Landslide Map Option). LANDSLIDE MAP- Recently available City topogre~phic data and aerial photographs would be analyzed to prepare a revised map illustrating the distribution of City landslides. We would also spot check our aerial photograph interpretations with field mapping intended to confirm the locations of landslides. Pertinent data from our office review files regarding recent landsliding will also be utilized. Because of the field time required to check aerial photograph interpretations, we estimate that the cost of an updated digital landslide map should not exceed $20,000. A pencil draft of the landslide map could be prepared for $" 6,000. Please contact me with any questions you may have about the above items. Would it be alright for me to contact Ms. Nowack to coordinate a way to transfer the topo and aerial photo electronic files? This information will assist with our in-house compilation of data even if mapping budgets are not approved. In addition, this information would be very helpful with our ongoing geotechnical reviews for the City.
