TICC 03-03-10 Technology, Information & Communications Commission Regular Meeting March 3, 2010 MINUTES CALL TO ORDER Andy Radle called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m. ROLL CALL Commissioners present: Andrew Radle, Bill Allen, Peter Friedland, Avinash Gadre Commissioners absent: Wally Iimura Staff present: Rick Kitson, Linda Lagergren Visitors: David Knapp, Bill Mannion APPROVAL of October 22, 2009 MINUTES 1. Peter Friedland made a motion to approve the minutes as submitted. Bill Allen seconded the motion. Motion passed. Approved 4 -0. COMMUNICATIONS 2. Oral: Bill Mannion announced that a celebration would take place in the fall to commemorate the 1,000`" episode produced by The Better Part Senior TV Group. The Commission agreed to take Item #11 out of order. NEW BUSINESS 11. Council Work Program 2010 — David Knapp discussed the Council Work Program and suggested five items that the Technology, Information and Communication Commission could work on. a. Google application Peter Friedland made a motion to support the City's efforts with the application for the Google high speed project. Bill Allen seconded the motion. All in favor. Motion passed 4 -0. b. E- Services c. Online Library materials d. Solar Activity e. Keep focus on better cell phone coverage WRITTEN COMMUNICATIONS The Commission reviewed the following written communications. 3. January 18, 2010 — AT &T Franchise Fee quarterly report 4. February 8, 2010 — Letter from Comcast regarding programming services 5. February 9, 2010 — Letter from Comcast regarding XFINITY 6. February 12, 2010 — Letter from T- Mobile regarding land use approval for antennas 7. February 17, 2010 — Letter from Comcasl: regarding network enhancement UNFINISHED BUSINESS 8. Discuss Work Program Subcommittee reports. The commission discussed having a follow -up meeting with Clearwire to discuss coverage and test accounts. A suggestion was to have Clearwire at the Cypress Hotel and AMC. 9. Energy Service Agreement update — Kitson said next week they would meet with Siemens and it would go to Council the first meeting in April. Kitson said he would inform the Commission when a draft proposal was prepared. NEW BUSINESS 10. Google Fiber for Communities — Kitson reported that the City would be sending an agreement to Google. REPORTS 12. Mayors meeting with Commissioners — Andy Radle reported to the Commission on the Mayor's meeting. 11. City of Cupertino — Kitson reported the CREST awards ceremony will be June 9 Earth Day — April 17 Shred It Day — March 20". MISCELLANEOUS 12. Activities Calendar -- The Commission reviewed the Activities Calendar. 13. Action Item List Review -- The Commission reviewed the action item list and added the Clearwire follow -up meeting. ADJOURNMENT Peter Friedland / Bill Allen moved and seconded to adjourn the meeting at 9:08 p.m. Motion passed unanimously.
