Don Burnett Bicycle-Pedestrian Bridge (formerly the Mary Avenue Bicycle Footbridge)
On July 19, 2011, the governor of California signed into law Senate Concurrent Resolution 35 (SCR 35)
which designated the bicycle and pedestrian bridge that crosses State Highway Route 280 At Mary Ave.,
between the cities of Cupertino and Sunnyvale as the Don Burnett Bicycle– Pedestrian Bridge.
In your working documents and references to this structure please be sure to reflect the change. In
order to facilitate the transition please be sure to use the following format: “Don Burnett Bicycle-
Pedestrian Bridge (formerly the Mary Avenue Bicycle Footbridge).”
The parentheses can be dropped in January 2012.
An event commemorating the name change with be held at 10am this Saturday, Oct. 8, at the south end
of the bridge.
