Subject: Director's Minor Modification, DIR-2012-08, to a previously approved Architectural
&Site Approval(ASA-2009-01) to allow minor facade changes to an existing
commercial building at 10212 North De Anza Boulevard.
Chapter 19.132 of the Cupertino Municipal Code allows for administrative
approval of minor changes in a project. The Director reports his decision to the
City Council and Planning Commission in time to allow an appeal of the
decision within fourteen calendar days.
DISCUSSION
The applicant,Paul Reda,representing E-Trade,proposes minor fa�ade changes to an existing,
newly constructed,commercial building that will be fully tenanted by E-Trade. Originally,this
speculative commercial building was contemplated to house several commercial tenants. That
changed when E-Trade leased the entire building. The changes include:
1) Removing the existing corrugated metal siding, glazing,and metal awning surrounding
one of the building entrances and replacing it with a formed metal panel fa�ade system.
2) Removing trellis and supports.
3) Repaint portions of the building.
4) Replacing two glass doors with a window framing system to match existing.
ACTION
The Director of Community Development deexns the modification minor and approves the
project with the following conditions of approval:
1. APPROVED EXHIBITS
Approval is based on Plan Set titled: "E-Trade Financial",prepared by Nelco Architecture,
Inc.,consisting of 1 sheet dated February 9,2012,and labeled A7-1,except as may be
amended by the conditions contained in this memorandum.
2. NOTICE OF FEES,DEDICATIONS,RESERVATIONS OR OTHER EXACTIONS
The Conditions of Project Approval set forth herein may include certain fees, dedication
requirements,reservation requirements,and other exactions. Pursuant to Government
Code Section 66020(d) (1), these Conditions constitute written notice of a statement of the

amount of such fees,and a description of the dedications,reservations,and other exactions.
You are hereby further notified that the 90-day approval period in which you may protest
these fees,dedications,reservations,and other exactions,pursuant to Government Code
Section 66020(a),has begun. If you fail to file a protest within this 90-day period complying
with all of the requirements of Section 66020,you will be legally barred from later
challenging such exactions.
2. EXCLUSION OF SIGNAGE FROM APPROVAL
Signage features are not included in this approval and will be part of a separate sign
exception application
This Director's approval is effective February 24,2012. The fourteen calendar day appeal period
will expire on March 9,2012. Please be aware that if this permit is not used within two years,it
shall expire on February 24,2014.
