The Contractor has boxed the opening area with 2x6 framing and also added 2-2x6's to the adjacent ceiling joists. 2x4's were installed at 16" O.C. around the inside perimeter of the opening to provide support for the portion of the cut trust. From what I have seen, the framing of the opening is adequately providing the support the original trusts once provided.
