Replacement of Front Door
Objective:
Improve security and aesthetic appearance of front hallway by replacing front door with
modern, insulated door assembly.
Reduce noise levels and improve space use by moving door to front of covered porch.
Improve light levels by adding skylight to hallway
Description
Current porch is an enclosed space finished in stucco and floored with concrete slab. The
porch opens into front hall in single storey part of house. Proposed move of front door
reduces the amount of open space which causes ambient and traffic noise to echo in
current hall. Door relocation also reduces out-of-sight space, adding to security.
Outline of Proposed Work
® Remove stucco from walls
Raise concrete slab to align with interior hall floor
Frame new front door apparture and install manufactured door and side lite assembly
Face interior walls with sheet rock
Open single storey ceiling to roof space above and install (approx 24"x 30") skylight to
increase ambient light levels.
Relocate light switches as necessary
Reface new wall surrounding new door with stucco
Remove existing tile floor and retile floor to front door.
