NOT 1. These instructions are for standard composition shingle roofs. For other roofing systems, classified roof coverings, roof slopes with less than 3`rise per 12"
run or installation with no attic access, please ask your SOLATUBE distributor for specific instruction insert pages.
2. Make sure installation area on the roof is not shaded by trees, chimneys, etc.Maintain clearance from vents, flashings, hips, valleys and ridges.
3. Before beginning installation, read through the installation and assembly instructions.Follow all building code and roof manufacturer's requirements.
4. Complete ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS on pages 5 and 6 prior to installation.
5. Make sure roofing material is in satisfactory condition before installing SOLATUBE.
6. Use only SOLATUBE recommended sealant for installation.
r 7. One 10" (250mm)SOLATUBE may provide enough light to brighten a dark area up to 100 sq.ft. (10'x 10'12.5m x 2.5m)with an 8'(2.4m)ceiling. For
larger areas, multiple units may be necessary.
8. Tubes in kit span up to 16"(400mm)attic space.Optional extension tubes are available from your SOLATUBE distributor.Recommended tube length should
not exceed 10'(3m).If the attic height is greater than 10'(3m),consult your SOLATUBE distributor for advice.
9. In extremely cold climates,or when energy department requires dual glazing, contact your SOLATUBE distributor for dual glazed diffusers.
10. Optional dress ring colors are available from your SOLATUBE distributor.
OVERVIEW
These Instructions address assembly and installation of the 10" (250mm) SOLATUBE. See: Installation
Instructions,VS1000 Ventilated Unit(PI-114-V),to complete mounting and wiring of the SOLATUBE Ventilated Unit.
See: Installation Instructions, Light Fixture (PI-110-L),to complete Installation of the LT1000 electric light option.
CEILING LOCATION
STEP I . Select the desired position on the ceiling. Tap lightly to
identify ceiling joists. Hammer a small nail through the ceiling to mark _
the approximate position.
STEP 2. In the attic, locate the nail.Adjust position to avoid joists or
obstacles in the tube's path to the roof (see STEP 3) and to ensure
clearance for a 10-3/4"(274mm)diameter hole at the ceiling.Transfer pile seal

through the roof. Foil tape A

STEP 3. For the best overall performance the dome should be
placed in direct sunlight. Avoid inclining the tube to the north as this ..C., south

clearance in the attic, a vertical installation is appropriate.

caps and ceiling anchors from the inner diameter of the ceiling ring.
These are ootional fasteners to be used with the ceiling screws at
your discretion.

between opposing hands, carefully push tube and seal into the
