As engineers we have observed over the years that most foundation problems
are either caused 'by water or aggravated by water.. In general , water will cause . .
most clay soil to expand, saturatiod of the subsurface materials makes, soil
heavier and thereby affects the .stability.
The following recommendations constitute property maintenance .procedures
that will improve drainage conditions.
1 . Maintain 'positiye drainage . at all times. All water should have a
-cleared-ffow-route away from-tfie-buifiding.
3. Check roof drains, gutters and down-spouts "to be sure that they are
clear. Downspout extensions or splash blocks should be used to divert
water away from the building. Gutters should be kept free of leaves.
4. Water should not be permitted to pond or flow adjacent to a buildings,
foundation.
In general , the residence appears to be well constructed and should remain "
serviceable for many years.
Our services consist of professional opinions, -conclusions and recommen-
dations made in accordance with generally accepted engineering_ principles and
practices.
