Historical Society grant funds Parks and Recreation Department CITY OF CUPEIUINO CITY COUNCIL STAFF REPORT Agenda Item Number J... ~ Agenda Date: February 6,2007 ISSUE Consider authorizing, by Resolution, application to the County of Santa Clara Historical Heritage Grant (HHG) Program, by the Cupertino Historical Society (CHS). CHS needs City Council authorization to apply for funds to work on city owned property. DISCUSSION At the time the packet was distributed, CHS board members were still discussing options for use ofHHG funds. Santa Clara County Park Charter funds are restricted to "park purpose" use only. A report regarding a potential project will be presented verbally at the meeting. RECOMMENDATION Receive a proposal from the Cupertino Historical Society for use of Historical Heritage Grant funds and consider authorizing an application for a project on city property. Knapp, City Manager ~9-/ Printed on Recycled Paper RESOLUTION NO, 07-028 DRAFT A RESOLUTION OF THE CUPERTINO CITY COUNCIL AUTHORIZING THE CUPERTINO HISTORICAL SOCIETY TO APPLY FOR GRANT FUNDS FROM THE HISTORICAL HERITAGE COMMISSION & DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND RECREATION OF SANTA CLARA COUNTY FOR USE ON CITY-OWNED PROPERTY, WHEREAS, Historical Heritage Grant Program funds are provided by the Santa Clara County Park Charter and are restricted to "park purpose" use only; and WHEREAS, the Historical Heritage Commission & Department of Parks and Recreation of Santa Clara County are soliciting applications for the Historical Heritage Grant Program; and WHEREAS, the Cupertino Historical Society intends to apply for fundraising; and WHEREAS, the procedures for application require the property owner to authorize the applicant's use of the property, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Cupertino City Council hereby: 1. Authorizes the filing of an Application for funds from the Fiscal Year 2006-2007 Historical Heritage Grant Program by the Cupertino Historical Society; and 2. Acknowledges that the Cupertino Historical Society will be the project sponsor. Be it further resolved that the Cupertino City Council direct the City Manager or his designee to enter into a project agreement for work to be done on City property, should the Cupertino Historical Society application be successful.
