RE: Supplemental, As -Built Structural Design Review for the Rough Framing Sign Off
for the Lot 19 Residence, Oak Valley Subdivision, Cupertino, CA (Our Job No.: 98120)
After my jobsite meeting with Gordon on 5/3/99 and my review of the above referenced design, the following list itemizes
both what was visible and verified, and what has been concealed at this stage of construction:
1) Since the plywood floors and the roofing had been installed prior to my visit, the following items could not be
verified as properly completed during this visit. However, they may be verified as properly done by reviewing the City of
Cupertino's sign off paperwork.
a) The foundations, underfloor grade clearances, anchor bolt and ground floor holdown bolt installations
b) The subfloor nailing, below walls and the upper floor walls to lower floor walls shear transfer (Note: All
the upper floor,shear walls on this residence were installed on the exterior walls).
C) The roof deck nailing.

2) Based upon the limitations noted in item (I) above, the only items which could be verified by me at the time of this
visit are the following. (Note: All the items listed were found to substantially comply with the engineering design intent).
a) The holdown anchors were visible because the stucco lath had not been applied.
b) The perimeter frieze block shear transfer detail at the second floor roof.
,c) The roof strut bracing for the second floor roof, except as noted below.
d) The interior and exterior shear walls.

The only items of concern found during my
transition studs at the front garage stud on grid line D, and the rear coo, noted
was the need to fully block (4 x 4 min. horiz.) at the front door header height and fully edge nail this blocking, then strap tie
it is blocking with MST27 horiz, straps to lower the effective height of this shear wall. Also, tune (2) 4 x. 4 ��sts at grid line
-C shall be bolted together with the HD8A bolts and (3) additional 3/4" diameter machine bolts (— 24o.c, vertical), then
an additional stud shall be stitch nailed with 16d @ 3" O.C.c to allow for proper connection of the shear wall'Ito the holdown
at these intersecting shear walls. Also, MST48 straps shall be field bent up and over the tops ol'roof beams (It and
(CB-4nd (2) A3 clips shall be provided at the king posts to provide positive connections at these beam to post
connections. Finally, the 2 x d.ti'(ntghest) ridge shall have an additional brace to beam added at the hip to ridge intersection
to agree with the approved roof bracing layout on the plans.
