CC 02-22-96--- CC-917A MINUTES Cupertino City Council Regular Adjourned Meeting February 22, 1996 PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE Mayor Burner led the Pledge of Allegiance and called the meeting to order in the Cupertino Sports Center, 21111 Stevens Creek Boulevard, Cupertino, at 8:40 a.m. ROLL CALL Council members present: John Bautista~ Michael Chang, Wally Dean, Lauralec Sorensen and Mayor Don BurneR. Council members absent: None. Staff present: City Manager Don Bwwn; City Clerk Kimberly Smith; Administrative Services Director Carol Atwood; Community Development Director Bob Cowan; Public Infosmation Officer Donna Krey; and Public Works Director Bert Viskovich. ._. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS None. ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT FOCUS GROUP Mr. Daniel Iacofano served as facilitator for the group composed of members of City Council, Chamber of Commerce, business owners, developers, and residents. Bautista gave an overview of the general fund trend and sales tax trend. The Administrative Services Director reviewed the definition of economic development and highlighted the goals and objectives as well as the programs and strategies listed in the draft Economic Development Plan. Mr. Iacofano took input from the group on additional goals and objectives. Those in attendance then broke into two separate groups to discuss issues related to retail sales and office research and development strategy. Mr. Iacofano said that he would summarize the issues and suggestions and would then provide that information in written form to the participants.
