To whom it may concern:
On May 8, 2001 SMA received a letter from Underwriters Laboratory's authorizing SMA
to apply the UL mark to the Sunny Boy 25000 Inverter. This letter constitutes the formal
notification of final UL approval of the Sunny Boy 25000 inverter. All model 25000
inverters have been evaluated by UL and found to be in compliance with UL Standard
1741 for utility inter-active Inverters, May 1999 edition. The UL file number is E210376
The UL testing includes testing for compliance with the recommended practices of IEEE
929 and IEEE 519. As part of UL's ongoing factory inspection process, the anti-
islanding performance of every production unit is tested at the time of manufacture. This
Insures continued compliance with the requirements of IEEE 929.
• A sample of Sunny Boy 2500 inverter was also supplied to Sandia National Laboratory's
PV Design Assistance Center for testing. Sandia verified the performance of the Sunny
Boy 25000 and found it to meet or exceed the anti-islanding requirements IEEE 929
i and the power quality requirements of IEEE 519.
The Sunny Boy 25000 is approved by the California Energy Commission for use in the
Emerging Renewables Buy Down program.
Internal testing has shown the Sunny Boy 2500 inverter also meets the radiated and
conducted noise requirements for Class A digital devices outlined in FCC Part 15. The
Sunny Boy 25000 Is presently undergoing testing at an Internationally recognized
independent testing to verify compliance with FCC requirements.
