CC 03-05-03 CITY OI~ CUPERTINO PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE APPROVED MINUTES CUPERTINO CITY COUNCIL Special Meeting Wednesday, March 5, 2003 ' At 6:00 p.m. Mayor Chang called the meeting to order in the Council Chambers, 10300 Torre Avenue, Cupertino, California. ROLL CALL City Council members present: Mayor Michael Chang, Vice-Mayor Sandra James, and Council members Patrick Kwok, Dolly Sandoval and Richard Lowenthal. Council members absent: none. Staff present: City Manager David Knapp, Administrative Services Director Carol Atwood, City Attorney Charles Kilian, and Deputy City Clerk Grace Johnson. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS Robert Levy, 10802 Wilkinson Avenue, had comments from the March 4, 2003 joint Planning Commission/City Council meeting regarding the General Plan. His comments included: Concern about tall buildings being built at the De Anza Boulevard intersection · The need for more parks that aren't schoolyards · Concern about tall houses being built in his neighborhood · Concern about the level of service on roads and if it would change for bicyclists NEW BUSINESS 1. Discuss insurance issue regarding the Lunar New Year Unity Parade. Councilmemeber Lowenthal reviewed the handout titled, "Summary of Unity Parade Insurance Status, 3/5/03." Administrative Services Director Carol Atwood reviewed the staff report. Council concurred with the staff recommendation to stay with the existing policy and not insure the parade. No action was taken.
