AGENDA DATE AU2ust 21. 2007
SUBJECT AND ISSUE
Adopt a resolution authorizing the City Manager to apply for, accept, and appropriate up
to $40,000.00 in Fiscal Year 2007-08 funding for the Metropolitan Transportation
Commission's Pavement Management Technical Assistance Program (P-TAP) Round 9.
BACKGROUND
P- TAP provides Bay Area jurisdictions with assistance and expertise in implementing
and maintaining a Pavement Management System, primarily using the Metropolitan
Transportation Commission (MTC) StreetSaver software. To provide assistance for
eligible pavement projects, P-TAP retains qualified consulting firms, with which
successful program applicants are expected to work to complete the projects.
P-TAP projects for Round 9 are divided into three categories: 1) Pavement Management
System (PMS) projects, 2) projects that link a jurisdiction's pavement management
program with its geographical information system (GIS), and 3) pavement design
projects. Staff wishes to apply for a PMS category project to coincide with the City's
periodic pavement evaluation schedule, whereby the City maintained streets are inspected
and evaluated every two years.
FISCAL IMP ACT
The City is eligible for the maximum P-TAP project of $40,000.00. If the City's
application is approved, the City will be awarded 80% of the project amount and will be
responsible for supplying the remaining 20%, up to a maximum of $8,000.00, if the
City's application is approved for the maximum P-TAP project of $40,000.00.
