Special Meeting
February 28, 1997
CALL TO ORDER
At 1:14 p.m. Mayor John Bautista called the meeting to order in the Hinson Campus Center, De Anza
College Campus, 21250 Stevens Creek Boulevard, Cupertino.
ROLL CALL
City Council members present: Mayor John Bautista, Vice-Mayor Lauralee Sorensen,
Councihnembers Don Bumett, Michael Chang, and Wally Dean. Council members absent: None.
Staffpresent: City Manager Don Brown; City Clerk Kimberly Smith; City Attorney Charles Kilian;
Administrative Services Director Carol Atwood; Community Development Director Bob Cowan;
Parks and Recreation Director Steve Dowling; Public Information Officer Donna Krey; and Public
Works Director Bert Viskovich.
ORAL COMMUNICATIONS
None.
COMMUNITY TRAINING AND TEAM BUILDING
Representatives of the Public Dialogue Consortium (PDC) reviewed the history of this project and
explained that the purpose of this meeting was to conduct training and team building for Cupertino
community leaders with particular emphasis on cultural richness and public safety issues.
With PDC members serving as facilitators, the council, staff and members of the public worked in
groups to learn constructive dialogue techniques.
ADJOURNMENT
At 5:00 p.m. the meeting was adjourned to Saturday, March 1, at 9:00 a.m. for the conclusion of the
community training and team building.
