SUBJECT AND ISSUE
Accept resignation from Teen Commission member Daniel Pavlovic and decide whether to fill
the vacancy.
BACKGROUND
The Teen Commission interview and appointment process differs from the other commissions in
order to accommodate the students' schedules. In 2007, the filing deadline was April 27 and
Council conducted interviews on May 22 before the summer break. The commission then meets
the first and third Wednesdays, 6:30 p.m., from September through June. The Teen CoIJ?lIlission
has 13 members.

Daniel Pavlovic, who is a junior this year, was-appointed to the Teen Commission on May 22,
but resigned on August 27 because he was selected to be a Congressional Page in Washington,
D.C. His resignation letter indicates that he will be back in Cupertino in January, 2008, would
hopes to serve on the Commission again on bis return or at a later date. .
RECOMMENDATION
Select one of these QP~ons for the .position on the Teen Commission. .
1. Accept the resignation and leave the position vacant
2. Direct staff to begin a new recruitment process and schedule interviews. The
recommended deadlines would be Friday, October i 9 for applications and Tuesday,
November 13 for Council interviews. . . .
3. Refuse the resignation, leave the position vacant, and reinstate Mr. Pavlovic on his retmn
