When I volunteered for the Commission, l was prepared to make a limited financial disclosure of any potential conflicts that 1 may have had. However, I was not aware of the restrictions on gifts that are in place. The restrictions would prevent me from accepting a stay at a neighbor's house in Mt. Shasta City, in their absence, on our annual visits to Ashland. It would also prevent me from staying at the Vermont vacation home of a friend I have know since grade school. As an unpaid commissioner, 1 am not willing to forego accepting these gifts which each have a fair market value in excess of $390. However, I intend to contribute by attending meetings of the Senior Citizens Commission to raise issues that I consider important Very truly yours, Steven F. Stone s-z 2/12/2008
