CC 01-15-08C O P E RT I N O APPROVED MINUTES CUPERTINO CITY COUNCIL Regular Meeting Tuesday, January 15, 2008 PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE At 6:45 p.m. Mayor Dolly Sandoval called the regular meeting to order in the Council Chamber, 10350 Torre Avenue, Cupertino, California, and led the Pledge of Allegiance. ROLL CALL Present: Mayor Dolly Sandoval, Vice-Mayor Orrin Mahoney, and Council members Kris Wang and Gilbert Wong. Absent: none. CEREMONIAL MATTERS -PRESENTATIONS 1. Proclamation declaring January as National Blood Donor Month. Mayor Sandoval presented the proclamation to Patricia Childress, Donor Recruitment Manager for the American Red Cross. Ms. Childress accepted the proclamation and made an appeal for more blood donors. 2. Cupertino Square shopping center update. This item was continued to February 19. POSTPONEMENTS Item No. 11, bingo permits, was continued to Feb. 4. WRITTEN COMMUNICATIONS -None ORAL COMMUNICATIONS -None CONSENT CALENDAR Wang/Mahoney moved and seconded to approve the items on the Consent Calendar, with the exception of Item No. 3, which was pulled for discussion. Adopt resolutions accepting Accounts Pa.~ for December 28 and January 4, Resolution Nos. 08-007 and 08-008. 5. Adopt a resolution accepting Payroll for December 28, Resolution No. 08-009. 6. Accept the City's year-end financial reports for 2006-07. 7. Accept the Treasurer's Bud eg t Report for November 2007. 8. Approve the extension of a two-year contract with the city's financial auditors Maze and Associates. 9. Acceptance of municipal improvements, Cheng Hsin Yin & Vickie Peng, APN 357-17- 059, 10038 Orange Avenue, (No documentation in packet). The applicant has completed City-specified improvements in the City right-of--way, including curb and gutter, sidewalk, trenching and erosion control as required by the improvement agreement with the City. 10. Acceptance of municipal improvements, Adobe Terrace, APN 369-03-001, 20128 Stevens Creek Blvd., (No documentation in packet). The applicant has completed City-specified improvements in the City right-of--way, including paving and concrete, storm drain and mobilization work as required by the improvement agreement with the City. ITEMS REMOVED FROM THE CONSENT CALENDAR (above) 3. Approve the minutes from the December 18 City Council meeting. Council member Gilbert Wong asked to strike the last sentence of Item No. 35 on page 3- 9 of the packet. Wong/Wang moved and seconded to approve the minutes as amended. The motion carried unanimously. PUBLIC I-~EARINGS 11. Consider approving bingo permit renewals. Wong/Mahoney moved and seconded to continue this item to Monday, February 4 as requested by staff. The motion carried unanimously. UNFINISHED BUSINESS NEW BUSINESS January 15, 2008 Cupertino City Council Page 3 Cupertino Redevelopment Agency ORDINANCES STAFF REPORTS COUNCIL REPORTS Council member Kris Wang noted that the California Cities Association asked each member city to choose 3 topics that it would like to focus on. Each Council member concurred to email 5 topics of interest to Wang who would put together a matrix for Council to choose its top 3 topics at the Feb. 4 meeting. CLOSED SESSION 11. Closed session regarding public employee performance evaluation -Government Code Section 54954.5 -evaluation of City Manager Dave Knapp. At 7:05 p.m. the Council recessed to a closed session for the City Manager's evaluation, and reconvened at 10:15 p.m. No action was taken.
