WHEREAS, it is necessary,. from time to time to bring said plan up
-to date,
NOW, THEREFORE., BE. IT REI)OLVED .ICY_ THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CUPERTINO AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: Resolution 4i'IA.adopted.July 7, 1964 is hereby
repealed.
Section 2: All Resolutions, Minute Orders and Notions previously
adopted by the City Council in conflict with this Resolution 4710 are
hereby rescinded and repealed.
Section 3: Exhibit A entitled "Position Titles by Pay Grades"
and Exhibit B entitled "Salary Schedule ", both dated July 1, 1967
and attached hereto are hereby adopted.
Section 4: Sections I through..11 of.Itesolution 471 and Exhibit
A attached thereto are hereby repealed and in lieu thereof the pro-
visions of Section 5 of this Resolution 471C are hereby adopted.
Section 5: Sections. 7, through 11 of Resolution 471 shall read
as follows:
"Section 1: All conflicting. resolutions of the City are hereby
repealed.
Section 2: The plan has the following characteristics:
(a) Each pay-grade has ..five. steps and no salary rate shall
be at other than that indicated for one of the steps for
the pay grade , to which the position title is assigned,
except as otherwise provided Exhibit A attached hereto,
(b) Rates - of pay for employees entering the City's service
normally will be at . the• s tep 1 rate for 'the position
title unless otherwise - conditioned by recruiting diffi-
culties or by education %or expt:rience in excess of that
usually required of a nev employee.
(c) Increases in salary to higher steps itv the pay grade

Section 3: The salary rate for each current employee will

Section 4: The five, steps o£: the, pay grade_ are for..the purpose
of p,m-vi ding incentive to the erapl.oyee for growth and improvezent in
his work and to regard him accordingly through periodic Increases in
salmv y.
Section S: All rates - ".are .considere d..a�s..ful�l. Paymen for Servi�as
r e�a�.eier�eel o a full - time basis, hmpluyees - engaged. - for. less..tban - full -time
sh*11 be paid at the hourly equivalent of.one.:of the steps in the pay
grad* for their position title. TheAvourly equivalent for . such , art -
tin* work shall be computed.on an annual salary for then step divided
by 2.080 hours.
Section 6: Monthly salaried employees for any reason, are
to be paid less than their normal gross salary for. any one pay period
shall have their gross salary computed_ by deducting from their normal
salary rate the dollar amount for the number of hours not worked Wultiplied
by the hourly equivalent for full -time employment during the month in
which the pay period falls. No salary shall be paid tinder this pro-
vision avaless the employee is entitled to receive pay for one or more
days during the pay period.
Section 7: The permanent assignment. of an employee from one
position title to a position title in a higher pay grade shall con-
stitute a promotion and the affected employee shall receive an increase
in salary on promotion.
Section 8: The normal, work week shall be forty hours for all
full -time employees except for those staff members who may, in addition,
be required to attend or participate. in. official City functions outside
or their normal working hours. Compensatory time off as a result of
such activity shall not accrue . as . a. right - to any employee but may be
given as a consideration 'by the City Manager. Compensatory time off
may Rie granted by the City Manager to other employees who arts requested
to cork overtime.
Section 9: The schedule of position titles shall be as sL�t forth
in Eyhibit A attached hereto 'and. no other title shall be used
nor shall any amendment be made thereto oxcepr ;olution of the

(e) The.sssignuent of - employee's salary. rate to a
step in the pay, ; grade for his, position:. title shall
take into consideration. the quality and quantity of
setvices ' refidored;- ..the length of service with the
! City and,the -comparative.rates of: other employees
in similar cnpacities;
(b) No employee shall .receive.,a:.reduction in salary as a
result of - assignments -- to the salary schedule attached
hereto;
(c) Such assignments shall _be, by: a separate resolution of
the City Council to be effective July 1, 1967 and all
subsequent increases in salary based on merit: shall be
made on July 1 of each fiscal year.
Section 11: All new employees shall.serve a six - month pro -
baltxonary period. Employees on probationary; status and part -time
employees are not eligible. for sick leave benefits, or other "ne-
fits that will or may be granted to..permanent employees, excluding
eligibility for receiving. compensation and medical care under the
provision of the State Compensation Act. Accrued vacation leave
will not be paid to any employee leaving. City service prior
to the completion of one year's service."
Section 6: Section - 14 of Resolution 471 is hereby repealed.
Section 7: Section 15(c) of Resolution 471 is hereby repealed,
