Dear Sir,
have prepared the following brief Structure Report for the existing Patio Framing. My analysis
consisted of a site observation, drawing review, and structural analysis.
4Patio Description
The back patio 12ft x 47ft and side patio I Ift x 35ft, both are construct with plastic corrugated sheets
over 2x6 patio joist n 24"on center span maximum 12 ft, and 2xb1ocking at 48"on center, one end
supported by 4x 10 or 4s 12 beam, and 4x6 post, another end usahanger support by 2x facial board, and the
facial board was bolts to house roof rafter with (2)-1/4':x 4" long screws.
Structural analysis
The patio framing is very light, by use joist design load of 5 psf dead load and 20 psf live load, this end
loading is 300 lbs (60 lbs dead load, 240 live load) point load at each end:and-latcral load will be less than
10 plf along(20 lbs each house rafter) the facial board.
By using (2)-1/4"screws connect to house rafter, one screw capacity is 250 lbs for shear and 170 lbs
for each inch of thread for withdraw force, this connection can support the required loads.
Conclusion
Base on my inspection, the patio is in good condition, no need for any structural work.
