Applicant: Barre Barnes (Holiday Drive, LLC)
Location: 21740 Rainbow Drive
Hillside Exception to allow a 4,478 square foot single family residence plus a 840 square foot
basement to be constructed on slopes of 30% or greater;
Variance to allow an attached first story deck more than 18 inches above grade to be setback 0 feet
from the property line where 10 feet is required
❑ Geologic
o There were 2 different geologic studies done by consulting firms
o To abate seismic concerns, the foundation piers will need to be imbedded into the
bedrock
o To abate potential concerns of a debris flow caused by storm water runoff, a "diversion
wall" will be constructed
o The flattest part of the lot is about .5 acres, the proposed home is approximately 4,400
square feet on a slope greater than 30%
o 569 cubic feet of cut, 252 cubic feet of fill

o There is a 20" Oak tree in the proposed residential footprint

Review of the five-year Capital Improvements Program (FY 2012-13 to 2016-17) for conformity to
the City of Cupertino's General Plan

o Review limited to first year funded projects:
o One project has already had a separate environmental review -Stevens Creek Corridor
Park, Phase II.
o Repairs/renovations and minor maintenance of existing facilities projects- (street,curbs
& gutter upgrades, resurfacing of trails and parking lots, storm drain improvements,
traffic signal and intersection improvements, etc.),would be CEQA exempt
o Minor City infrastructure projects - (construction of an all-weather, multipurpose court
at the Sports Center, construct of a stand-alone shelter at McClellan Ranch, create a
signage program for the parks, conduct planning and feasibility studies for facilities at
the Stocklmeir/McClellan corridor, Blackberry Farm Golf Course and Stevens Creek
Trail, etc.),would be CEQA exempt
o Repairs/renovations and minor maintenance of existing facilities projects -
(rehabilitation of irrigation systems at Wilson Park and McClellan corridors, renovation
of the McClellan Ranch Barn and Blacksmith Shop, renovations to Quinlan Center and
City Hall to meet current ADA requirements and building codes, etc), would be CEQA
exempt
o Overall projects in total will not pose any significant environmental impacts
o The Mary Avenue fenced dog park project will require additional environmental review
due to the changes in the scope or location of the project
