Subject: Report of the Community Development Director
Planning Commission Agenda Date: Tuesday, July 10, 2012
Miscellaneous:
1. Removal of Large Oak Tree at The Crossroads - In the recent process of
construction at the Crossroads Shopping Center, the applicant’s arborist
discovered more extensive root decay in the large oak tree behind the future
Islands Restaurant that was not readily visible during initial observations by
the City arborist. The City arborist has confirmed this finding and agrees that
the extent of the decay warrants immediate attention and that there are no
reasonable measures that can be employed to save the tree. The applicant will
work with staff to obtain a tree removal permit to remove and replace the tree
with a 72-inch box size Valley Oak tree as soon as possible.
