CONC WALL NOTIFICATIONJanuary 3, 2013
RE: SOUND WALL ADJACENT TO STELLING RD AND CHRISTENSEN DR
Dear Property Owner,
As you may be aware, a portion of the concrete sound wall constructed adjacent to Stelling Road
as part the original subdivision that created your property lines collapsed this past weekend. The
City has been informed that property owners directly affected by the collapsed portions are
working towards removing the concrete debris, and are currently looking into rebuilding a barrier
and the adjacent landscape planting area damaged by the collapse.
Because the sound wall is located on private property and was built by the developer of the
original tract, the City does not maintain it and it is the responsibility of each of the property
owners to maintain the wall located on their property.
To reduce the potential of further collapse or physical danger to the public or to you or your
property, the City recommends that you immediately hire a licensed professional Engineer to
determine if the remaining portion of the wall still standing is structurally stable or if repairs are
needed to ensure stability. Please note that it is the responsibility of the property owner to verify
the stability of your portion of the wall and to obtain the required permits to make any necessary
repairs to the existing sound wall as recommended by the licensed professional Engineer that you
hire. Please contact the Building Department at (408) 777-3228 if you have any questions related
to the building permit process.
If you have any questions regarding this letter, please contact me at (408) 777-3256 or email me at
