Thank you for advising us that the Council can amend the approval and consider including the angled parking option proposed on west side of Saich Way to resolve one of the concerns brought forward in the appeal relating to insufficient parking for the project. SCCA wishes to re-affirm our overall support For the project as approved by the Planning Commission. We continue to oppose the Saich Way angled parking option struck from the applicant's submittal package by the Commission for the following reasons: • The angled parking program coupled with the relocation of the Saich Way bus stop and bus layover results in a net lose of nine stalls on Saich Way. Our property currently deals with overload parking from the YMCA operation and the net loss of available stalls on Saich Way will exacerbate the problem. • The angled parking alternative introduces these stalls and a narrower roadway directly across from the primary driveway in and out of our property on Saich. A full third of the more than 20,000 average daily trips to our property enter and exit from Saich Way. Vehicles exiting the angled stalls directly in front of our driveway would be backing into turning movements of vehicles exiting our Saich Way driveway. • Introduction of the angled parking would eliminate the required emergency vehicle turning radii into and out of our Saich Way driveway. Exhibits in the submittal package for the Saich Way Station Project illustrate that these emergency vehicle(fire truck) tuning patterns are required in and out of each driveway to the subject project. That requires applies to the Target Bottegas project as well. • • Lastly, the angled parking option required the relocation of the bus stop and bus layover on Saich way. The existing bus stop is just 425 feet from the Stevens Creek Boulevard bus stop directly in front of our Target center. I would like to suggest that the Saich Way bus stop be eliminated and the bus layer zone be added to the bus stop on Alves Drive just west of Bandley Drive. This would allow for an additional six parking stalls on Saich Way in close proximity to The Saich Way Station project. No parking signs from 2 AM to 6 AM on both sides of Saich would eliminate the dump truck and long haul trucks from parking along Saich.
