O'Dowd updated Task Force Members on the Blacksmith shop improvements.
The task force discussed rule enforcement for the Community Gardens. The Community Gardner
Representatives are currently in charge of monitoring gardners to ensure that they are complying with the
Community Garden rules.

New Business
7. O'Dowd verified all Task Force Members had received a copy of the McClellan Ranch
Master Plan.
8. O'Dowd updated the Task Force on the implementation of a Stevens Creek Trail Task
Force. The Stevens Creek Trail Task Force is charged with studying the feasibility of
constructing a Cupertino link from Stevens Creek County Park to Rancho San Antonio
Park. Craig Breon was selected to represent the McClellan Ranch Task Force on the
Stevens Creek Trail Task Force. It was also suggested that Steven Haze would be a
good addition to the Task Force because of his connections with the Cupertino
Historical Society and his equestrian background.
9. O'Dowd reported that Therese Smith was named the new Parks and Recreation
Director effective January 2001.

November 30, 2000

1. At 4:00pm meeting was called to order.

Guests Present: Ralph Riddle and Roxanne Beverstein

Agenda Revision Accepted:
Added discussion regarding interior fences and locking exterior fences to the Cupertino
Community Gardens. Guests Ralph Riddle and Roxanne Beverstein made a presentation
asking the Task Force to consider recommending a policy ofremoving the interior fences
and locking the exterior fences to the Cupertino Parks and Recreation Commission. After
much discussion, the Task Force recommended that all Community Gardeners must attend
an annual informational meeting on Garden Rules and Policies. Community Gardeners
would then vote on these issues. Banfield will report the vote outcome to the Task Force
in February.
Unfinished Business
4. O'Dowd reported that the ADA bathroom improvements would be completed by the
end of December at a cost of $50,000.
5. Banfield reported that the kiosks were completed by a Boy Scout Troop and a bee sign
was to be installed soon informing park users of a beehive located in the barn.
6. O'Dowd reported that the City had an estimate from an engineer of $16,000 to
complete a structural analysis the Blacksmith shop. There was some discussion on
whether it would be more feasible to refurbish or building a new Blacksmith shop. The
Historical Society will make a report in February on the historical value of the
Blacksmith shop.
