Dear Mr. Saviano: As authorized by Mr. John Hillesland, your project superintendent, ES Geotechnologies (ESG) has completed a review of the foundation plans and structural calculations for the subject project. This review was performed to satisfy the plan check comment from the City of Cupertino third party plan check consultant, A.S.E. The plan check report from A.S.E. is dated Jan. 24, 2008. Comment 1 states: "Provide revised structural detailing and or plans to reflect the changes required based on the revised structural calculations. Also obtain review letter from the project Soil engineer approving all changes." The Structural Calculations Nvere prepared by RC Consulting Engineers, Inc. They are dated June 20, 2008, and indicate t at they are for a "Plan Check & Revision". The structural plans and details were also prepare by RC Consulting Engineers, Inc. They are dated 06-02-06 with a Revision 4 date of 4-14-08. File No. BA-2431-01 Doc.No. 0807-061 July 7, 2008 The Structural Calculations indicate three foundation revisions, generally as follows: • The addition of underpinning piers to the southeast end of the basement mat foundation as indicated on Sheet S-1. • Revision of the patio aid stairs in the northwest corner of the structure, including a new pier and grade beam fo indation, as depicted on Sheet S-2. • Extension of the safe room to the detached garage and the subsequent elimination of 4 drilled piers from the pier and grade beam foundation for the garage, as depicted on Sheet S-5. Based on our review of the plans and calculations, it is ESG's opinion that the foundation plans and details and supporting s ructural calculations by RC Consulting Engineers, Inc. are in general conformance with the zecommendations of the referenced Geotechnical Investigation and supplemental recommendations report by Upp Geotechnology, Inc. In addition, the revised structural drawings are consistent with the changes discussed in the calculations. We trust this report provides the information requested.
