MINUTES FROM PREVIOUS MEETING
a) Regular meeting, April 24, 2013
Commissioner Mol motions to approve minutes. Commissioner Doyle seconds.
Motion passes unanimously.

NEW BUSINESS
a) Walk Friendly Community Designation — Commissioners discussed the
opportunity for Cupertino to submit an application for the Walk Friendly
Community Designation. Points of importance included spreading awareness
for WOW program, Cupertino is already a well-walked community, showing
commitment and dedication to be an environmentally conscious city, and the
ability to showcase walking as an alternative means of transportation is safe
and community supported. Staff will follow up with interested commissioners
during the summer on the potential application.
OLD BUSINESS
a) WOW Event check wrap up
Commissioners were overall satisfied with event. Ideas for next year include
contacting the Cupertino Courier, contacting businesses for donations in advance
and meeting with management in pairs, setting mini-goals for sub groups to
meet throughout the planning process, and keeping persistence in mind when
seeking out support from the community. Additions for future WOW events
tangible prizes/toys, making marking on the sidewalk or using signage to alert
walkers and encourage participation, providing a wearable bracelet or pin to
participants.
b) 'Teen Commissioner Characteristics' activity– commissioners completed the
annual activities of what they believe to be the ideal characteristics of a
future commissioner. This list will be presented to City Council before
interviews, a request for recommendation for selecting the 2013-2014 term
commissioners.
c) Teen Center Open House Luau- commission discussed final details in
preparation for the May 17 event at the Teen Center.

At 7:42 pm the Teen Commission adjourned to a REGULAR MEETING on
Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at 6:15 pm at Quinlan Community Center, Conference
Room, 10185 North Stelling Road, Cupertino.
