Exhibit CC 1-21-14 Item #16 Email and PowerPoint (2)Cc t - Z r Karen B. Guerin From: Lisa Warren [la- warren @att.net] Sent: Monday, January 20, 2014 9:51 ANI To: David Stillman; Timm Borden Cc: City Council Subject: Re: Tantau Traffic Island 'Porkchop' David and Timm..... and CC Members We, once again, have a calendar conflict for this meeting. We did get the notice in the mail, thank you. So I have the info from our past emails and from the reports attached to tomorrow's agenda. I have no first hand knowledge of discussion during the two neighbor meetings. I do question some of the 'solutions' that are up for appoval by the CC, but am feeling that Council will probably adopt them as they are recommended by Staff. If that is the case, I am 'publicly commenting' via this email : Detail: I would like to strongly recommend that the traffic circles be landscaped (regardless of the additional cost). Done correctly, I believe that landscaping the centers is well worth it. I feel the same about the gateway treatment. Observation /continued conce'rri` -I don't`see ariy' improvement to the parking situation or an attempt to 'define' the parking area for the Loree Center and address the 'spill over' on to Tantau'and Judy. If this is not'tackled', there will certainly be continued safety issues in those areas. Is there some other'project' that is going to address the situation? Question /concern-:• .Tantau /Loree intersection currently has actual crosswalks (major route to schools, and future Main Street walking route) - Judy /Loree intersection does NOT have designated crosswalks but they are, of course, implied. While I am not necessarily suggesting that lines get painted here.... We do have concerns about how traffic circles work with pedestrian /bicycle movement. In these two locations, is there enough 'room' for a vehicle to manuever'around' the circle without entering into the crosswalk that is parallel to it's route ? If not, then it seems unsafe. Additional thought: The S. Portal Dr. gateway has identifying signage. In regard to the Gateway Treatment on Tantau, is there any identifying or instructional 'signage' being proposed as part of the treatment ? IF so, what is it ? Loree Estates ? other ? Thank you.
