MINUTES
CALL MEETING TO ORDER
Commissioner Iimura called the meeting to order at 7:20 PM
ROLL CALL
Commissioners present: Wallace Kimura, :Beverly Siegel, Shishir Chavan,
Commissioners absent: Peter Friedland, Rod Livingood
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
1. Commissioner Chavan made a motion to approve the November 6 minutes. Commissioner Siegal
seconded the motion. Vote 3 -0
ORAL COMMUNICATIONS
2. This portion of the meeting is reserved for persons wishing to address the commission on any
matter not on the agenda. Speakers are limited to three (3) minutes a person. In most cases, state
law will prohibit the commission from making, any decisions with respect to a matter not listed on
the agenda.

WRITTEN COMMUNICATIONS
- 11/14/13 Letter from AT &T regarding possible U- verse.TV programming changes
- Commissioner's noted that the prices of most of the AT &T UVERSE offerings were being
increased.

OLD BUSINESS
4. — Technology workshop discussion on follow -up actions that included main items selected for TICC
to work on.
First item is the analysis of current fiber in the City. Commissioner Iimura noted that Bill Gates and
Mark Zukerberg are creating a large fund to get very high speed connection to the Internet.
The City needs to find out if the Cupertino school district will be participating and if they are who will
be doing the build out and when. The hope is that the City can interest some organization/company to
take advantage of the fiber being laid into the neighborhoods to get very high speed Internet
connection to private homes.
Second item is the investigation of the "Smart Cities" concept. Commissioner Chavan reported that
after an initial contact with his Smart Cities resource at NASA, he has not been able to arrange a
meeting to discuss about how the city of Cupertino might proceed in the area of "Smart Cities ".

The third item is to explore the idea of technology incubators sponsored by the City. Commissioner
Segal has started the process of contacting Apple about any work they are doing about
promoting/starting an Apps incubator in the local area.
