CITY COUNCIL MEETING
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
At 2:03 p.m. Mayor Gilbert Wong called the City Council meeting to order in the
Community Hall Council Chamber, 10350 Torre Avenue, Cupertino, CA and led the
Pledge of Allegiance.
ROLL CALL
Present: Mayor Gilbert Wong, Vice Mayor Rod Sinks, and Council members Orrin
Mahoney and Mark Santoro. Absent: Council member Barry Chang.

ORAL COMMUNICATIONS - None
STUDY SESSION
1. Subject: Work Program study session
Recommended Action: Review the 2014/2015 Work Program
City Manager David Brandt.did an overview of the Work Program document noting
the color scheme for each department and that items in blue are new.
Council made comments and gave direction on the following projects:
• Renew a robust Wi-Fi, fiber optics, and cell campaign to bring vendors to
Cupertino, including outreach to Aj�ple, Inc. and other companies via a letter,
and possibly create a promotional webpage for resident input.

• Begin holding regular Economic Development Committee meetings.
• Consider studying a Community Choice Aggregation benefit in the Climate
Action Plan to offer residents a choice on how much green energy is
purchased.
• Keep Council updated via Items of Interest on implementing solar at the
Civic Center and Service Center.
• City Manager will find out information regarding a recent meeting on SB1339
requiring certain businesses to offer commute incentives to employees.
• Add a parking requirement study for various land uses in the Zoning
ordinance to the proposed 2014/15 budget.
• Add parking to the Civic Center Plan and include it as a separate line item in
the Work Program under Public Works.
• Have Bicycle Pedestrian Commission review the 2011 Bike Plan and bring
back a status report to Council in the fall; also work with staff on priority
funding list to improve bike lanes, etc.
• Update Council on the status of the Stevens Creek dam flood evacuation
route signage via Items of Interest.
• Change title of item number 13 under Parks and Recreation Department to
read, "Investigate increase of Senior Case Management services to
accommodate increasing demand."
• Use a cost estimating consultant to get a better estimate on the Stevens Creek
Trail.Bridge over Union Pacific Railroad project.
Jennifer Griffin noted that the Lawrence Mitty Park is currently in the unfunded list
and explained that the land is a valuable piece of property for residents on the
Eastern end of the City. She suggested that the Snyder Hammond house could be
used as an historical house if there were better access to property. She also said she
was excited about the historical potential for the Stocklmeier house.

ADJOURNMENT
At 3:28 p.m., Mayor Wong adjourned the mE!eting to Tuesday, April 1 beginning at 3:00
p.m. for a Joint City Council/Planning Commission study session regarding draft
General Plan Amendment concepts and Dousing Element Policies and Programs,
Community Hall Council Chamber, 10350 Torre Avenue, Cupertino, CA.
