I am very glad this is a restaurant that is geared toward families as well as dining couples. It looks like the menu is nice too and has selections that all ages will enjoy. I had two comments I have added below. I do think that there should be a foot patrol security force 24/7 on the Main Street campus and should have a very beefed up presence after midnight, when restaurants are closing (such as Lazy Dog Cafe) and when people are walking to their cars in the parking garages or on campus by foot. The parking garages should have several roving security trucks 24/7 that patrol the parking garages, especially after 11 PM. Access to the parking garages should be restricted at a certain time (2 AM) and actions need to be decided about what to do with vehicles not retrieved after 2 AM. Are these vehicles booted or tagged and registered with security as not having a driver? Has this even been discussed? When do the parking garages close? Thank so much and please read my comments below. -------------------------------------------- On Tue, 7/15/14, George Schroeder<GeorgeS @cupertino.or€;:>wrote: Subject: RE: Lazy Dog Cafe Bar Hours and Other Questions To: "grenna5000 @yahoo.com" <grenna5000 @yahoo.com> Date:Tuesday,July 15, 2014, 10:53 AM Hi Jennifer, Thanks for your e-mail. I had a few questions about The Lazy Dog Cafe's bar hours. Maybe you could address them at tonight's City Council meeting on the Cafe. 1. When is the last call in the restaurant? Will all the patrons of the bar leave at 1 AM?Will the bar still be serving at 1 AM?When do restaurant patrons leave the restaurant? GS-According to the restaurant operators, 15 minutes before closing. The bar will not continue serving at 1 AM.The patrons will be able to finish their meals and drinks if they are in before 1 AM -the restaurant will not rush them out the door. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment about bar closing time. I'm glad that they are stopping serving alcohol before 1 AM.The only thing I am worried about is that there will be people in the building after 1 AM.There may need to be a hard closing time such as Elephant Bar has. They shut their bar down like a half hour before closing and they have a final closing time when no diners are still in the building. In this case, having a last call time at 12:15 AM for Lazy Dog Cafe may work out better. No more alcohol is served after this time in the restaurant. Diners may finish up their meals, but 1 AM is the final time diners may be in the building. Security people will know when the public is out of the restaurant and can observe to make sure folks get safely to their cars or, if walking, get safely where they are going, whether the hotel, nearby apartments or across Stevens Creek Blvd. into the residential neighborhoods. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2. What is an interior bar? Is it located away from the dining area in a separate room? GS- It's a full service bar with alcoholic beverages within the restaurant. It is located at the north end of the building away from the main dining area, but it is not in a separate room. 3. Are there rooms in the restaurant that can be closed off for small parties or events such as buffets or wedding receptions or family events? GS- According to the restaurant operators, nothing will be closed off, but they will accommodate small and large parties if they coordinate in advance with the restaurant. 4. Where is the dining patio? Is it covered and can it be used year round with heat lamps? When does service on the dining patio end? GS-On the north end of the building off the new interior street within Main Street. The patio will be covered, and heat lamps will be used if weather permits. The food service at the patio stops at closing. Guests will still be allowed to finish meals. 2 i 4 CC 7-15-14 Item #15 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment about patio dining. I don't know about having patio dining outside at 12:30 AM at night. Also, I think all people should be off the patio by 1 AM if they are thinking of having the cafe open that late. I can see dining inside, but I think the patio dining being open after midnight or 12:30 AM is not a good course to take. Maybe people would be asked to come and dine inside from the patio at midnight. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thank you very much. Sincerely, Jennifer Griffin 3
