Sports Center Equipment Upgrades
During oral presentations last Tuesday you heard from one of our sports center
members, Ari Stroud, requesting that the TV monitors installed with the new cardio
equipment be removed so he can see the view of the parking lot and tennis courts. As a
compromise, we have offered to put a camera on the courts so he could have his own
"station" (which he rejected) and we have removed one of the TV monitors so Ari could
see his former view.
Please note that our competitor clubs have had TV monitors for the past 10-15 years on
the equipment in addition to wall monitors. According to our equipment supplier, Life
Fitness, they have been installing TVs on the cardio equipment for the last decade and
75% of new orders include TVs. The 25% who are not ordering TV monitors are making
that decision for budget reasons. Our goal is to not be in the lower 25% of workout
facilities.
Staff surveyed the surrounding clubs and found the following:
Bay Club
TVs on cardio equipment and wall TVs
Courtside
TVs on cardio equipment
24 Hour
TVs on walls only
24 Hour Super
Sport
TVs on cardio equipment and wall TVs
YMCA
TVs on cardio equipment
Club One
TVs on cardio equipment and wall TVs
Decathlon
TVs on cardio equipment and wall TVs
Apple
TVs on cardio equipment
The Sports Center Manager observed Ari and his wife using the cardio equipment with
the TV monitors on Wednesday morning (and not the machine that had the TV
removed). Hopefully he is enjoying some of the benefits the new equipment has to offer.
