Dear Mr. Brandt,
Our mom,Virginia Logan, was a resident of Cupertino for 44 years. She died on October 4, 2014, at the
age of 93. She loved Cupertino and was so proud of her beautiful neighborhood, the fantastic schools
and wonderful open spaces. She loved taking her walks through the neighborhoods and parks. We
would like to honor her by sponsoring a bench at Memorial Park close to her beloved Senior Center and
the Veterans Memorial.
Over the years,Virginia was actively involved with the Senior Center. She took exercise classes, trips,
attended dances and special events religiously. Mom volunteered at the Senior Center for many years
doing mailings, greeting people at events and serving at special banquets.
She developed life-long friends here in Cupertino both through the community activities as well as in her
own neighborhood.
When the Cupertino Veterans Memorial was opened in 2007, Mom honored our dad,Jess, who died in
2004, and was a WWII Navy veteran, by sponsoring an engraved tile to be placed by the Navy emblem.
Now we have a lovely place to go and sit to remember our dad.
We would like the same opportunity with our mom—having a place to remember her in the
environment she loved. We hope to sponsor a bench (either adding a plaque to an existing one, or
creating a new one) as a way to honor her—Virginia Logan. For us this would represent a place for
others taking a walk in one of Cupertino's beautiful parks to rest for a moment in comfort.
We would so appreciate you taking this request to the City Council.
Regards,
Marcia Alicea (408)464-4928
