REMARKS:
• Per request on 11/07/14, we have provided the construction service of Structural
Observation, for the job located at 10585 N. Stelling Rd. Cupertino. Structural Observation
is visual observation of the structure system for general conformance.
This observation, the only observation, was performed after the roofing file had been
installed, the exterior lath had been in-place. Plumbing rough, electrical rough, HVAC
rough, framing had been completed. Due to work progresses, there was no structural
observation done related to the exterior side (face) of the building. No such observation was
performed at subfloor framing. This observation was based upon items which are still
exposed for visual identification -identify if structural members are in places per their design
theory or per approved plan. The observation did not intend to go through thorough in detail
such as to exam number of nails nailed, inspect type of nails used, etc. Therefore, the quality
of the work is not the best interest of it all.
In general, the framing is conforming to the requirements per approved set, except the
following on-site modification:
1) Installed OSB at pony wall inside the attic is not shown on the approved set. Due to this
sheathing, teco nail shall not be used for LUS of the ceiling joists at Line D. Contractor .
has been advised to replace such nails with 10d common at the header beam.
2) Due to roof as -built framing, roof framing at Line E, B has been modified. Designated
beam 5 1/4" x 14" Parallam to support roof rafters, thereafter to support California
framing, was not installed. Rafters are not supported by HB -1 Hip beam. See attached
sheet S-3.1, sheet S-5.1 for modifications
3) Either new modifications or missing items based on approved set were shown sheet S-3.1
and sheet S-5.1. Please see the two sheets for more information. Please note: there is a
footing pad added sheet S-3.1
• Contractor shall have the city official to verify the installations and sign off on the inspection
record sheet (card) for job completion.
