X- Series and E- Series included? Under the January 2015 fire code update, modules no longer have Class A, B or C fire ratings. Modules now have type ratings (Type 1, Type 2, Type 3, etc.). All SunPower modules are Type 2. Achieving a Class A fire rating under the new code requires the combination of the mounting system and solar modules. Once a mounting system achieves Class A rating, can it be used on all Type 2 modules? Yes, if a mounting system is qualified for "Class A" fire rating with a Type 2 module then the fire rating applies when that mounting system is combined with any Type 2 module (not just those from SunPower). How do we know if a mounting system has achieved Class A rating with Type 2 modules? You will need to refer to the installation instructions of the mounting system provided by the manufacturer. Do all -the mounting systems available from SunPower meet the Class A fire rating when installed with SunPower modules? Please refer to the following table: SunPower mounting systems and fire classifications: This table describes SunPower mounting systems and basic requirements to achieve Class A or Class C fire ratings under January 2015 fire safety code update (UL1703, 2013 edition). Refer to the mounting system installation guide for complete instructions and confirmation of fire code status. These configurations apply when using SunPower Type 2 modules. Mounting Skirt Class A? I Maximum distance between roof surface and bottom of the module frame must be less than or equal to 3.5" to achieve Class A fire rating. Do the modules now shipping with a Type 1 -15 classification sticker meet the 2015 Class "A" assembly rating requirement? The solar modules actually do not ship with a "sticker" that displays the module type. The type information is located in the installation guide or directly from the manufacturer. The latest SunPower Safety and Install guide is located here for your convenience, www .sunpower.com /pvinstalIGuideUS. All SunPower modules are Type 2. Please see the manufacturer of the mounting system to confirm fire code ratings when used with Type 2 modules. For SunPower mounting systems, please see the table on the previous page.
