TICC 10-07-2015TECHNOLOGY, INFORMATION & COMMUNICATIONS COMMISSION Regular Meeting October 7, 2015, 7:00 p.m. Conference Room A, City Hall MINUTES CALL MEETING TO ORDER Commissioner Livingood called the meeting to order at 7:05 PM ROLL CALL Commissioners present: Commissioners absent: Staff Present: Guests: APPROVAL OF MINUTES Rod Livingood, Wall ace Iimura, Vaishali Deshpande, Shishir Cha van Keita Broadwater Teri Gerhardt Mike Jerbic 1. Change sentence 3 in Unfinished Business to, "The second date will be targeting teenagers and that event will be held on a date that is to be determined, it will no longer be on October 2?1h.'.' Change in minutes approved 4 for 0 against, 1 absent. Commissioner Iimura motioned to approve the minutes, Commissioner Chavan seconded the motion. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS 2. This portion of the meeting is reserved for persons wishing to address the commission on any matter not on the agenda. Speakers are limited to three (3) minutes a person. In most cases, state law will prohibit the commission from making any decisions with respect to a matter not listed on the agenda. Public Safety Commissioner Mike J erbic expressed appreciation working with Commissioner Deshpande on the joint public meeting for technology security. WRITTEN COMMUNICATIONS None. UNFINISHED BUSINESS: 3. Regarding the TICC and Public Safety Commission joint public meeting on technology security, it is planned for October 13 from four to five pm at Quinlan Community Center. The presenters for the event are a representative from the Sheriffs office, a representative from Wells Fargo specializing in identity theft, and IT Manger Mariyah Serratos. The room at Quinlan Community Center is available until 6:30 pm so there will be extra time available if needed. For the advertising of the event, there was an announcement made in the Cupertino Scene, flyers were distributed at a Senior Center fundraiser, and it was posted to the City of Cupertino's Social Media. Commissioner Deshpande spoke with Recreation Coordinator Justin Cecil at the Senior center for additional visibility. It was suggested that the city channel record the speakers to allow future replay either locally or at the KMVT channel. 4. GIS Coordinator Teri Gerhardt provided an update to the TICC. There is a major software update being done for GIS. The City is also working on an asset management upgrade, and with this upgrade they are taking parks data asset inventory, which includes irrigation. A position opened for a full time GIS technician and an intern is being brought on to assist in compiling the inventory of assets. Public street closures are also being added to the overlay map. There was discussion about feeding API to google map crawler which would allow Google Maps/Waze to show road closures in real time. The Capitol Improvement Projects (CIP) map is also being added, examples of this include green bike lanes, and fiber network expansion. An additional developer map is also being created, which would show overlay of projects under review, planned, but not built, and those in construction. OLD BUSINESS: 5. Regarding the Civic Center Cell tower report, there was not a quorum to deny the appeal of the cell tower, therefore the Planning Commission's decision stands. There was also no resolution to approve the height adjustment. Staff has been tasked to work on this issue. NEW BUSINESS: 6. The discussion around the "Hackathon" topic was continued to the next meeting. 7. Regarding the SmartCities/N extGen Cities topic, there was no update provided. Commissioner Chavan will produce categories and the objective of these categories before the next Mayor's meeting with the commissioners, and share with the TICC. REPORTS: 8. The topics discussed at the Mayor's meeting with commissioners were the Teen Commission will produce SAT training for low income, and the teen center upgrade is underway. The Fine Arts Commission will present the Distinguished Artist Award. The Public Safety Commission discussed different schools safety methods. The housing homeless census showed there were 73 in Cupertino. The Parks and Recreation Commission discussed Fall Fest, Diwali, and other events including the McClellan Ranch and Environmental Education Center grand opening. The Mayor discussed MISCELLANEOUS 9. Reviewed Activities Calendar, no current updates. 10. Reviewed Action Items, no current updates. ADJOURNMENT Commissioner Iimura moved for adjournment. Commissioner Deshpande seconded the motion.
