To: Cupertino City Council Members,
10424 Sterling Blvd. was owned and occupied by two ladies who kept the property well
maintained with flower beds and nice landscaping for over 30 years until they both became
disabled. Ardath Glasgow suffered from a bone disease that resulted in surgeries, falls and
broken bones. Along with being the caregiver of Ardath until she passed away in 2014, Linda
Kraemer battled lymphoma and lung cancer until she passed away at the Veteran's Hospital
about a year later, in late 2015. At that point, I inherited the overwhelming responsibility of
being executor for my two dear friends. I knew they had been too physically, mentally and
emotionally exhausted with day to day health issues to keep the property maintained as they
had for years, but burdening them with another problem just didn't seem right. My first
priorities as executor was to hire a probate attorney, deal with months of unopened mail and
piles of inedical issues, file Linda's 2014 income tax forms and request a waiver of penalties
and interest which the IRS granted.
In lanuary of 2016, I received a notice of weed abatement. I notified the City of Cupertino of
the owners' deaths and that a gardener had been hired to maintain the property that would
soon be put up for sale. The gardener kept the property tidy through the closing of escrow at
the end of May, 2016.
Just last week I learned the property had not passed weed inspections in 2013 or 2015 and,
although the property passed inspection in 2016, it is still listed on the 2016 Weed Abatement
Program. I drove by the property recently, and it is evident that the new owner has continued
to nicely maintain the property.
Because 1) the two ladies who owned the property were severely struggling between 2013-
2015 and have both passed away, 2) the property passed inspection in 2016 and 3) there is a
new owner; I request that the property at 10424 Sterling Blvd. in the name of Linda Kraemer,
Trustee, be removed from the 2016 Weed Abatement list and the $55 fee be waived.
Thank you for your consideration,
Lea Ann Walters, Executor
Linda Kraemer Trust
