RE: Main Street Cupertino- RFI's and As-Built Process
Hello Albert Salvador,
Our entire team greatly appreciates the time and effort you took with us to help identify a
process in which both Devcon Construction, South Bay Construction and the design team can
keep the Building Department informed of the construction changes and Requests for
Information (RFI). During our meeting, we discussed processes for City of Cupertino review of
RFIs, and the need for As-built drawings at the conclusion of the project.
With your concurrence our team recommends the following processes.
Request of Information (RFI)
Each General Contractor will keep an updated RFI log and binder at the job site trailer for the
inspector's review at any time. The binder will include both previously responded to and open
RFIs. Each RFI will have the architect's acknowledgement of review/response.The binder will also
have an RFI log which will bear a column indicating if the item is recommended for further
review by the building and planning departments. The inspector will review the log and binders
on a frequent basis (weekly). The inspector has the option to require any RFI of concern to be
redirected for further review by a City of Cupertino Department.
As-Built Plans
At the conclusion of the project prior to the issuance of a Certificate of Occupancy, the project
team will submit to the Building Department a set of As-built plans. The as-built drawings will be
highlighted copies of the permit set with redlined notations on revised areas with a reference to
the associated RFI response / plan review. The referenced RFI's will be incorporated into the final
as-built submission package for the City of Cupertino's records.
Should you have any concerns about our team's desired process please let me know.
Sincerely,
